Sojitz Corp. I Would Like To Extend A Warm Thank You To Everyone For Your Continued Support. I Am Pleased To Announce That Sojitz Has Released The Results For The First Six Months Of The Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2009. In Addition To Providing An Outline Of These Financial Results, I Also Take This Opportunity To Communicate My Thoughts On Essential Future Actions That Sojitz Must Take In Response To The Present Extremely Volatile Economic Environment. Net Sales For The First Six Months Of This Fiscal Year Rose By 3.7% Year On Year To ¥2,905.1 Billion. One Of The Main Contributors To This Result Was The Sustained High Price Of Resources. Recurring Profit Rose 4.3% Year On Year To ¥55.5 Billion, Which Was Primarily A Result Of Strong Business Performances Related To Energy & Mineral Resources And Fertilizer Operations, And Improvement In The Financial Payment Balance That Resulted From An Improved Credit Rating, Covering The Negative Factors Of Decreased Earnings In Real Estate Business Due To A Softening Market And The Recording Of Valuation Losses In Accordance With The Changes To Accounting Standards. Sojitz Posted Net Income Of ¥35.9 Billion, Which Was Above Previously Publicly Announced Forecast Of ¥25.0 Billion, And Equivalent To 60% Of The Full-year Forecast Target. Sojitz Successfully Cleared All Forecast Targets That We Previously Announced For The First Six Months Including Net Sales, Operating Income, Recurring Profit And Net Income. I Would Like To Express My Gratitude To All Stakeholders For Your Support That Has Helped Us Make Solid Progress Despite The Growing Perceptions Of Economic Slowdown And Worsening Uncertainty Towards The Future Economic Environment Both In Japan And Overseas. Nevertheless, The Trend Of Contraction In The Financial Market, Which Was Sparked By Last Year’s Subprime Shock, Is Exacerbating The Present Turmoil. Moreover, The Present Volatility In The Financial And Capital Markets Is Not Only Causing Economic Slowdown In Developed Countries; It Is Also Beginning To Bring About Slowdown Of The Real Economies Around The World, Including Those Of The Newly Industrializing Countries. In Consideration Of The Change To This Very Severe Situation, We Have Downwardly Revised The Forecast For Recurring Profit For The Full-year To ¥95.0 Billion, ¥5.0 Billion Down From The Initial Full-year Forecast. The Full-year Forecast Of Net Income However Remains At ¥60.0 Billion And Sojitz Will Pay An Interim Dividend Of ¥4.5 Per Share, The Same Amount That Was Previously Publicly Announced. On The Financial Front, Sojitz Concluded A Long-term Commitment Line Agreement With A Banking Group On September 26. Through This Agreement, Sojitz Has Supplemented Its Funding Liquidity For The Medium To Long Term, And Strengthened The Stability Of Its Financial Base And Procurement Structure To Weather This Financial Environment.地區: Tokyo 更多鏈接 J.
